MUSAN
The Museum of Underwater Sculptures or so called the underwater forest of the coast.
The sculptural artworks are shown all over the world, from the Maldives to Mexico, the Bahamas and many more, and each installation itself tells a story, and some are placed underwater to interact with nature.
Cyprus's underwater museum MUSAN was created by the master himself. A few years ago, the amazing art project by Jason deCaires Taylor took place in Cyprus, in the 15th place, where the underwater installations are placed for tourists and nature to visit.
Within a few days I discovered many beaches which are breathtaking beautiful and the underwater world is just as stunning as over the surface . I got to dive on a few different spots around the island - we have been lucky to discover the sunken treasure of the MS Europa, we dived and met a turtle wich came to say hello, and at the MUSAN museum of the sea we dived in to the wonders of the underwater forest museum from Jason deCaires Taylor he grafted figures that have been places in 2021 about 200m of the coast at Pernera Beach. The Skulpturen tell the story of life and the treasures it holds to those who are brave enough to passionetly protect the sea. The museum under the sea is art and conservation, its a human created habitat that attracts wildlife and tourists to enjoy the unique artwork that is from year to year more overgrown by the sea to become one - bit by bit and piece by piece.
What to bring and what does the beach offer?
The Beach at Musan is beautiful and, like most beaches, is well-equipped with sunbenches and sun umbrellas. A little Shop that sells snacks and drinks, swimwear, and sunscreen is just down the road, about 5 minutes away. by foot.
To discover the gems of MUSAN, I would suggest bringing a snorkel and, if you like, some fins. The Musan underwater museum is marked with ropes and about 200 m off the beach. Many tourists are around to sunbathe and enjoy water entertainment. At the very peak of the beach is a viewpoint offering beautiful views, and it is indeed a great place to take pictures.
At the beach are lavatories, showers and a playground for kids so that the entire family gets to enjoy a great day on the beach.
