Wreck Diving in Zadar

Photography by Katarzyna Zygnerska

Diving in Zadar has been great, two of the most frequently visited dive sites are the Lagoon and the Shipwreck Michelle.

Zadar, the city itself, is vibrant, full of historic sights, wonderful beaches, excellent hospitality and if you came with the intention of diving. I am happy to tell you that here lies a 70 m long ship wreck.

Blue Sea Dive Centre is located directly on the Plaza Borik - it's the beach to come to when looking for a sandy beach with comfy beachchairs and lots of entertainment. Here are hotels, bars, jet ski rentals, snorkel tours, the dive centre, and much more.

So here we are early in the morning, a crew of 5 divers, our captain and the dive guide, who is in the best mood, introducing everybody and explaining the dive site. First up is the wreck dive of the 70 m long Tuna fishing boat, and later we will discover the Lagoon, both are famous dive sites around Zadar. We gear up to catch the boat, which is big enough for up to 6 divers and the equipment for two dives.

We are lucky the visibility is 20+m. A moray eel, grey fish and many nudibranchs welcome us at about 20 m of depth. The Wreck is fabulous, with many large openings for a closer look inside and is overgrown by corals. At the Lagoon, a bomb from the 2nd World War, lots of tube corals, and more artefacts are the treasures the dive site holds.
