Silk Fabric in the Heart of Xi’an - Shaanxi
Silk the luxury goods of Xian
Xian is known for more than the Terra Cotta Army. During the Silk Road’s early days, Xian’s silk production became the largest in China.
To this day, many silk factories are located here and still produce and export to meet international demand. With my Guide, Peter, I had the chance to visit one of those factories on Lin Tong Qu Road and witness the production of quality silk garments and goods.
We were shown how silk worm cocoons are becoming one of the oldest luxury goods. How the fabric is woven with old, historic machines, and how fast and advanced modern machines spin thread and fabric into beautiful, high-quality fabrics with impressive patterns.
For anyone interested in taking a tour, learning more about silk, and purchasing gorgeous clothing, bedding, and other luxury goods
